No Woman No Cry

It's been nearly three weeks since I last updated, and even longer since I've written anything I'm at all proud of. I've been resenting my job all summer, but lately all of my myriad complaints about it have crystallised into one particular over-arching resentment: that it is eating up all of my time; that I no longer have any time to write. Nor read, or reflect, or any of those other things that are prerequisites for having something to write about.
I hate my job with a growing passion. Lately all that lets me drag myself out of bed in the morning is the promise of the days I won't have to: the slogging countdown to my next day off. This was supposed to be tomorrow -- we had it all worked out! -- but I was informed this morning that I couldn't have it. I'm now on until Friday, which is 6 days in a row. I nearly broke down. I am so tired all of the time these days. And I had such big plans for this summer! So much to read, and write, and do! Places I could have travelled! Brief trips south for the Summer Gathering and Climate Camp, though fun and interesting, simply weren't enough. I need to get out, both physically and figuratively.
One thing I have done, finally, is to set up a couple of blogs I've been talking about for ages. The first is a collaborative reviews blog called What I think about stuff that's been in the pipeline since June. Nothing there yet, but hey, I wrote half of one on a takeaway bag the other day, so maybe soon I'll have the time and mental space to complete it.
The other is a second personal blog, but one that should be less personal than this one. That is, it shouldn't include entries like this, that are purely personal, but might include ones like 'Scar Tissue', a few weeks ago. Basically this, but with quality control: entries and essays that I'm actually proud of, and would like to show off to the general public. The trouble is, I'm not always very good at telling what is or isn't a very good piece of writing, at least when it comes to my own stuff. So I'm requesting of you, O Readers, a few pointers here and there. If there are any entries here you particularly like, could you let me know, so that I might copy them there? Conversely, any that you see on there that you think are generally awful or boring (particularly the latter), please also let me know (preferably here, or by email). I really don't trust myself to know what's good and what isn't.
