mhuzzellI'm back at my mum's house in Massachusetts. I spent most of the afternoon at the dentist. I hate dental work. Especially the novocaine shots. This one wasn't supposed to involve them, but it did anyway. I hate everything about novocaine, except of course for its numbing capabilities. The worst part, of course, is the horrible feeling of the massive needle being inserted into my jaw, and the accompanying squirty feeling of the liquid being released inside. Slightly less horrible, but certainly annoying, is the fat numbness for hours afterwards, followed by the prickly/itchy waking-up of lip-flesh. Then there's that awful bitter taste it has, that you get from the topical pre-shot and then that little dribble that always leaks out of the shot as they're taking it out. I even hate the way it makes my body feel: all strange and heavy, like being very stoned but without the accompanying high--or even relaxation, since I'm always (call me crazy) a bit tense when people are drilling around inside my mouth. Okay, white-knuckle horrified, but you get the idea.
Anyway, I'm bored, so here are a couple of reflect-on-the-year surveys to finish off 2006:

Went to continental Europe (Prague), owned a DVD, got a job, kissed a girl, lived in a trailer, got a new computer, won an election.

No one very close, but someone I knew.

I had a really bad cough in March, but fortunately it was not tuberculosis.

I don't think I've even been to the cinema 5 times this year. I saw 'Little Miss Sunshine', that was good. Ditto 'Pirates of the Caribbean 2'. I saw 'Casablanca' for the first time, and of course it was amazing. 'The Godfather', just because. 'Holes' is good too, I just watched it tonight.
