This is the World's Smallest Violin...
Jun. 27th, 2007 05:36 pmI want to write a real entry in this. One that's more than just rambling, with topical ranting in place of complaining. I want to record my observations and thoughts. Instead I have to write an essay (that I should have already written).
I still don't know whether I have to write 7 essays or 4-and-an-exam this summer. I've been 'in communication' with the Philosophy department. Damn them. Why can't I just take deferred exams during the resits, like other departments do? But no. Instead my whole summer is going to be devoted to essay-writing. BALLS.
Here's what I want to be reading right now:
1. The Spirit Stone (Katharine Kerr)
2. The History of Sexuality (Michel Foucault)
3. Catch-22 (Joseph Heller)
4. The Monkey Wrench Gang (Edward Abbey)
5. Mrs. Dalloway (Virginia Woolf)
6. Any Nietzsche, just because I haven't yet.
Here's what I am reading, out of grudging necessity:
1. Leviathan (Thomas Hobbes)
2. Various interpretations and commentaries on Leviathan.
And here's what I will read next:
1. The Social Contract (Rousseau)
2. Interpretations thereof.
I suppose I should get back to it.
